“You have been trusted to look after something precious.”
2 Tm 1:13-14
The basic principles of the philosophy of a Catholic school flow from the right of parents to be the primary educators of their children.
“Since the parents have conferred life on their children, they have a most solemn obligation to educate their offspring. Hence, parents must be acknowledged as the first and foremost educators of their children.”
Even though the child is entrusted to the school for formal education, it is still the parents’ responsibility to make certain that the child has the best educational experiences.
The Pastoral, To Teach as Jesus Did, stresses the need for the parents’ educational partnership with the school. A Parent-Teacher Organization is an excellent way of establishing an effective system for an on-going parent-school relationship. It is intended to provide opportunities for parents to foster moral values in their children and to assist the school in providing academic excellence while at the same time fulfilling their God given role as educators. This organization is not intended to replace the Education Committee of the Parish Council nor the Advisory Council.
