Dear Parishioners,
Hope you are all having a great weekend honoring Independence Day.
Certainly there are a lot of problems in America right now. Far greater minds than mine are making observations and comments about our current crisis and how to healingly proceed. I shall not do that here. Except, to remind myself
and all of you, that what is needed more than anger is prayer.
Prayer changes minds and hearts. Prayer brings insight and new awareness. Prayer can bring healing and forgiveness. Prayer can help us see whether or not a cry for justice is really a call for revenge. If we’re going to change systems, we have to change hearts. This is true, as well, for building a new parish. If hearts need changing, only God can do that when we meet our God in private prayer.
America is a wonderful place. Please, dear God, continue to bless America and help us to help and forgive one another.
Tuesday, July 7, is the last day to turn in recommendations for our new parish name. I want to send in the preliminary list as soon as possible to hopefully get at the head of the line.
